Egypt was one of the first places man settled after the end of the last Ice Age. That was approximately 10,450 BC. The ancient Egyptians called that era the First Time or Tep Zepi. The Sphinx was built then. The pyramids seen behind the Sphinx were built much later. Khufu's pyramid, the Great Pyramid of Cheops (Greek), Khafra's pyramid (Cephren in Greek) and Menkaura's pyramid (Mycerinos in Greek) were all built much later during Egypts fourth dynasty. The three pyramids are arranged to reflect the positions of the stars Delta Orionis, Epsilon Orionis and Zeta Orionis which we refer to collectively as Orions Belt. The ancient Egyptans believed that the Pharoahs were direct decendants from the first Pharoah, Osiris. They beleived that when the Pharoah died, he was reborn as a star in the Duat (heavens).
