Who was Utnapishtim?

Utnapishtim, the Sumerian Noah, was the sage Gilgamesh went in search of. The Epic of Gilgamesh is probably the oldest of stories. It was very ancient at the time of Abrahams birth in the Sumerian city of Ur. The three major religions, Islam, Judism and Christianity all claim Abraham as their progenitor. The Epic of Gilgamesh was as familiar to Abraham as The Night Before Christmas is to us. Utnapishtim saved humanity from a great flood.
